Help build the business OS
we couldn't buy anywhere.
Encarmo is a small team building eight connected products that millions of businesses will eventually run on. We're early. The decisions you'll make in the next year will still be load-bearing in five.
The case for joining before it's obvious.
There's a version of this page that lists ping-pong tables. This isn't that page. Here's what's actually true about joining a team this size, at this stage.
Your decisions are still load-bearing.
The architecture choices, the design system, the way modules talk to each other — at a company this early, the person who builds it is still the person living with it a year later. There's no inherited mess to work around. There's also nowhere to hide a bad decision.
The product already has a real point of view.
Free accounting forever. Flat pricing, no per-seat tax on growth. Eight modules sharing one ledger natively. We're not hiring people to discover what Encarmo believes — that's settled. We're hiring people to build it properly.
Fewer layers, faster feedback.
A team this size makes decisions in a conversation, not a committee. Code you ship this week is in front of real customers within days. If something's wrong, you hear about it directly — not through three layers of product management.
We use what we build.
Encarmo runs its own finance and operations on Encarmo. If payroll has a rough edge, our own ops team feels it before a customer does. That's a genuinely useful forcing function — and it means the people building the product are never more than one Slack message from the people relying on it.
Four functions. One small team.
Encarmo is structured around four functions. Open roles are listed under each — if nothing's open in your area right now, we still want to hear from you.
Engineering & Infrastructure
Platform architecture, module development, security systems, and reliability engineering. The largest function — the product is the company.
Product & Design
Own the user experience across all eight modules and the connective tissue between them. The hardest problem here is making eight modules feel like one product.
Customer Success & Support
Onboarding, migration, and ongoing support for every business on the platform. Response target: within one business day.

What to expect, start to finish.
No surprise stages. No five-round gauntlet for a five-person team. Here's the actual process.
Intro call
A 30-minute conversation with the hiring lead for the role — about your background, what you're looking for, and what the role actually involves day to day.
Practical exercise
A short, real-world exercise related to the actual work — a code sample review, a design critique, a written response to a real support scenario. Never a take-home that takes more than a few hours.
Team conversation
Meet two or three people you'd actually work with. We're checking for working style and judgment, not trivia. You should leave knowing what the first three months would look like.
Decision
We aim to get back to every candidate — yes or no — within X business days of the final conversation. If it's a no, we'll tell you why specifically, not with a template.
The practical things, stated plainly.
Real equity, early
Meaningful ownership for early hires, with standard vesting. Specific ranges discussed by role during the process — not hidden until an offer.
Flexible, remote-friendly
London-based core team, remote-friendly across UK/EU time zones for most roles. We care about output and overlap hours, not seat time.
Health cover
Private health insurance details — to be confirmed and added before publishing.
Real time off
X days annual leave, plus public holidays. We mean it when we say take it — there's no culture of quietly judging people who do.
Learning budget
Annual learning/conference budget — amount to be confirmed, for courses, books, or conferences relevant to your role.
A say in the roadmap
Every team member can submit and vote on the same public roadmap our customers use. If you build it, you also get a vote on what gets built next.
The five beliefs that shape how we hire.
These are the same convictions behind the product. They show up in how we work, too.
Accounting software should be free.
Per-seat pricing is a tax on growth.
Fragmentation costs human time, not just fees.
Errors are systems failures, not human ones.
The best software is invisible.
A few things people ask us.
If your question isn't here, email careers@encarmo.com directly — a real person reads it.
Do you only hire in London?
What if there's no open role in my area?
Is Encarmo funded, and is my job secure if I join now?
What's the interview process like for non-engineering roles?
Nothing open
that fits yet?
Tell us anyway. The best hires we make are rarely the ones we planned for in advance.
