We built the business OS
we couldn't buy anywhere.
Encarmo is a modular business operating system — accounting, invoicing, payroll, HR, inventory, CRM, scheduling, and reporting in one platform. Built for businesses that were spending more time managing their tools than running their business.
The business we ran needed six tools. They never agreed.
Before building Encarmo, X ran a previous business for X years. The operations were straightforward enough — client work, a small team, monthly payroll, quarterly tax filings, inventory to manage. What shouldn't have been complicated was the administration around it.
There was accounting software for the books. A separate invoicing tool to send client bills. A payroll platform that didn't talk to either. An HR system for employee records that updated independently from payroll. A CRM for managing clients that had no connection to the invoices being sent to them. And a spreadsheet to reconcile everything at month-end, because nothing agreed with anything else.
The combined monthly cost was over £380. The combined time cost was harder to calculate — but the first weekend of every month was reliably lost to pulling data from one system, entering it into another, and troubleshooting the inevitable discrepancies.
In early 2026, X started mapping the problem properly. The insight wasn't that the tools were bad individually — most of them were functional in isolation. The insight was that the fragmentation itself was the product. Every disconnection was a gap that required human time to bridge. And that human time — added up across every small business running the same fragmented stack — was staggering.
“The tools weren't the problem. The gaps between them were. I was spending more time managing software than running the business the software was supposed to help.”
— X, Founder, EncarmoOn 1 June 2026, Encarmo was incorporated. The product vision was simple to state and difficult to build: one platform that does everything a growing business needs, connected natively so that every piece of data is in the right place automatically, and priced so that the cost of software doesn't grow every time you hire someone.
The accounting and invoicing modules launched free — on purpose. Every business deserves accurate books regardless of size or stage. The paid modules — payroll, HR, inventory, CRM, scheduling — follow when the business is ready for them. No per-seat fees on any module. No feature gating to force an upgrade. One flat price, for everything the module does.
Eight modules. One ledger. Zero manual data transfers.
Encarmo is a modular business operating system. Each module handles a distinct operational function — accounting, invoicing, payroll, HR, inventory, CRM, scheduling, or reporting. Each module connects to the others natively, sharing the same underlying data so that an action in one module automatically updates every other module that needs to know about it.
A new employee added in HR appears in payroll automatically. An invoice sent in invoicing posts to the accounting ledger immediately. A deal won in the CRM generates an invoice in one click. Hours logged in scheduling flow to invoices and payroll without re-entry. Stock sold in a product invoice decrements from the warehouse in real time. Approved leave in HR blocks the schedule automatically.
The result is a business that stops entering the same data twice — and gains a complete, live picture of its financial and operational performance in one place.
The numbers that define where we stand right now.
A mission worth quoting. And five beliefs to back it up.
Accounting software should be free.
It's infrastructure, not a product feature. The fact that small businesses pay £20–60 a month to keep their own financial records is an accident of how the market developed, not a reflection of what it should cost. Encarmo's accounting and invoicing are free because they should be.
Per-seat pricing is a tax on team growth.
When your CRM costs $14 per user per month and you hire your tenth sales rep, you just signed a recurring contract to pay more for the same software. Pricing that compounds with headcount punishes exactly the thing software should enable. Encarmo charges per platform, not per person.
The real cost of fragmented tools is human time, not software fees.
Businesses running payroll in one tool, accounting in another, and HR in a third aren't paying the obvious price — the combined monthly subscription. They're paying the hidden price: the hours spent transferring data between systems, checking that both sides agree, and rebuilding the spreadsheet that reconciles everything at month-end. That time is expensive. It's just not visible on an invoice.
Payroll errors are always a systems failure, never a human one.
When an employee doesn't get paid correctly, the instinct is to ask who made the mistake. The better question is which system required the mistake to be possible. When HR and payroll share one employee record, a salary change in one is a salary change in both. There's no gap to fall through.
The best business software makes itself invisible.
You shouldn't have to think about your accounting software any more than you think about your email server. The work it does should happen without requiring your attention. Encarmo is designed to run in the background — automating the things that should be automated, surfacing the things that need a decision, and staying out of the way the rest of the time.
Built by someone who needed it.
X
X founded Encarmo on 1 June 2026 after X years of running a business type and experiencing firsthand the cost of operating across disconnected tools. Before Encarmo, X previous experience — e.g. led finance operations at / built and exited / served as CFO at.
The founding insight was not that existing software was poorly built — most of the tools X was using were functional individually. It was that the seams between them were costing the business more than the software itself. Every manual data transfer, every month-end reconciliation, every payroll error caused by an HR update that hadn't reached payroll yet — these were systems problems pretending to be human problems.
X brings relevant expertise — accounting, SaaS, operations, enterprise software to the Encarmo platform. The product decisions — free accounting, flat module pricing, native integrations between every module — reflect convictions formed from years of experience running a business on fragmented software, not from a market research exercise.
A small team building a very large platform.
Encarmo is a TEAM SIZE-person team based primarily in London, with remote team members across regions. The team is deliberately compact — we move faster, make fewer decisions by committee, and stay closer to the product when there are fewer layers between the people writing code and the people who use it.
The team is structured around four functions:
Engineering and infrastructure
Handle the platform architecture, module development, security systems, and reliability engineering. The engineering team is the largest function — because the product is the company, and the product needs to be built correctly.
Product and design
Own the user experience across all eight modules and the connective tissue between them. The hardest design problem in Encarmo isn't making any single module work well — it's making eight modules feel like one product.
Customer success and support
Handle onboarding, migration, and ongoing support for every business on the platform. Support is reachable by email and in-app chat. Response time target: within one business day. Average actual response time: X hours.
Finance and operations
Run Encarmo's own business using Encarmo — which is both the most honest dogfooding arrangement in the industry and a useful forcing function for building software that actually works.
We're hiring across engineering, product, and customer success. If you're interested in building infrastructure for the businesses that run the global economy, we'd like to hear from you.

Who owns Encarmo. And why it matters.
Encarmo is independently owned and operated. X founded the company without external investment, and Encarmo remains entirely founder-owned as of publication date.
We made this choice deliberately. When a software company raises venture capital, the business model shifts — growth rate and valuation become the primary objectives, and the product and pricing decisions that follow from those objectives aren't always the ones that are best for customers. Pricing modules at a flat rate rather than per seat, keeping accounting and invoicing free, and refusing to gate basic features behind higher tiers — these decisions are easier to hold when they don't have to survive a board meeting.
Encarmo generates revenue from paid modules. The business model is simple: accounting and invoicing are free forever, because they're infrastructure. Payroll, HR, inventory, CRM, and scheduling are paid modules because they represent additional operational capability that businesses add when they need it. We grow when our customers grow — not when we raise the price of the tools they're already using.
Real businesses. Real relationships.
These are the businesses that Encarmo runs on. We've asked three of them to describe what the relationship looks like — not what a specific feature does, but what it's like to trust a single platform with your accounting, payroll, and operations.
“I've used a lot of software over the years. What makes Encarmo different isn't a feature — it's the feeling that the people who built it actually ran a business first. The decisions make sense in a way that most software decisions don't. Free accounting. Flat pricing. Everything connected. These aren't random product choices; they're the choices someone makes when they've been frustrated by the alternative.”
“Switching your accounting and payroll software is genuinely frightening. Your financial records, your employee data, four years of transaction history — handing that to a new platform feels like a significant risk. The Encarmo team migrated everything before we asked them to, without errors, and explained what they'd done and why. That experience — the way the company handled the most stressful part of the relationship — told us more about them than any demo ever could.”
“We've had two moments in eighteen months where we needed help urgently — once with a payroll run and once with a bank reconciliation discrepancy. Both times, Encarmo support responded within the hour and resolved the issue before the end of the business day. I don't think of them as a software provider. I think of them as a part of how the business runs.”

Every certification we hold is independently verified.
Encarmo processes payroll data, financial records, employee personal information, and client billing data for thousands of businesses. The people whose data we hold didn't choose Encarmo directly — they work for businesses that did. That relationship carries obligations that go beyond what our customers contractually require.
Below is a complete account of the security and compliance infrastructure that protects the data on our platform. Every certification listed is independently verified. Certificate numbers and audit documentation are available to enterprise customers on request.
SOC 2 Type II
SOC 2 Type II evaluates our security controls over a sustained period — not a point-in-time snapshot. The audit covers five trust service criteria: security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy. Our SOC 2 report is the most comprehensive independent verification of our security posture available. Report available to enterprise customers under NDA on request.
GDPR — General Data Protection Regulation
Encarmo acts as a data processor for all personal data held on behalf of customers. Your data is never used for purposes beyond delivering the Encarmo service. Employee and client data can be deleted on request; process documented at encarmo.com/privacy. Full processing activities register available on request.
PCI DSS — Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard
Cardholder data is never stored by Encarmo. Payment processing is handled through certified payment infrastructure. PCI DSS compliance confirms our payment handling environment meets the highest standard required by card schemes.
ISO 27001
ISO 27001 certification confirms that Encarmo maintains a documented, tested, and continuously improved information security management system — not just a set of controls, but a governed process for managing risk. Scope: design, development, and operation of the Encarmo platform.
Encryption standards
At rest: 256-bit AES encryption on all data stored in Encarmo's infrastructure. Data is unreadable without authorised decryption keys — this applies even at the infrastructure provider level.
In transit: TLS 1.3 on all connections between browsers, mobile devices, and Encarmo's servers. Connections that don't meet the minimum standard are rejected.
Key management: Encryption keys are rotated on a defined schedule and stored separately from the encrypted data.
Penetration testing
We engage an independent security firm to conduct penetration testing at minimum annually / twice annually. Results are reviewed by engineering leadership and critical findings are remediated before the next release cycle.
Uptime and availability
Encarmo operates a 99.9% uptime SLA. Live uptime status, historical incident log, and current platform health are published in real time at encarmo.com/status.
Two-factor authentication
Available on all accounts. Administratively enforceable for all users or specific roles. We strongly recommend enabling 2FA for all payroll administrators and account owners.
Role-based access controls
Every user role in Encarmo can be configured at module, data type, and action level. Payroll figures, employee salary data, and financial reports are individually permissioned — not accessible to all users by default.
Sub-processor transparency
A complete list of the sub-processors Encarmo uses to deliver its services — including cloud infrastructure providers, payment processors, and communications platforms — is maintained and updated at encarmo.com/legal/sub-processors.
Where Encarmo is heading. And what we're building to get there.
The long-term ambition for Encarmo is to become the operational infrastructure of the modern small and medium-sized business — the platform that runs invisibly underneath the work, handling accounting, HR, payroll, inventory, and operations automatically, so that the people running the business can focus on the decisions that actually require human judgment.
We are a long way from that. We launched on 1 June 2026. What we have today is the foundation: eight connected modules, a platform architecture that allows them to share data natively, and the conviction that this is the right model for how business software should work.
In active development — Q3 2026
Multi-currency payroll expansion
Encarmo currently supports payroll in X regions. We are extending multi-currency payroll support to cover regions, with country-specific compliance documentation for each jurisdiction.
Mobile applications — iOS and Android
A native mobile companion app for the Scheduling and Invoicing modules — allowing clients to book, employees to view shifts, and invoices to be created and sent from mobile.
Encarmo Capital — invoice financing
The ability to access early payment on outstanding invoices against a transparent take-rate, directly from within the Invoicing module. No separate application. No separate account.
Advanced report builder
A drag-and-drop custom report builder for the Reports & Analytics module, allowing businesses to construct cross-module reports using any data field from any active module — without SQL or a BI developer.
How customers shape the roadmap. Every paid Encarmo customer can submit and vote on feature requests through the in-app feedback portal at encarmo.com/roadmap. The top-voted requests across the customer base inform our quarterly planning. When a feature request reaches a defined threshold of votes, it moves to evaluation. We publish the outcome of every evaluation — whether we're building it, why we've declined it, or when it's scheduled.
We have never promised a feature to close a sale and then deprioritised it. The roadmap is public. The decisions are explained.
